About Us
Readymade Music is a service aimed at providing stock band arrangements of songs for TV singers, band singers ,club singers, talent quest entrants and the like. Readymade Music is a joint venture between two of Sydney’s most experienced musician/arrangers, John Coker and Rick Best. Seven years ago they decided to pool their resources and offer a wide range of stock arrangements for TV and band singers, cabaret, talent quests and the like as well as an arranging service providing high quality individually prepared arrangements. John Coker After Jon he joined Julie Anthony and toured Australia. John completed both the jazz and arranging courses at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and has prepared arrangements for many TV and cabaret acts. He has backed many international artists and worked at the famous Bourbon and Beefsteak Bar for fourteen years while also performing on the Sydney Showboat on Sydney harbour. He also worked with many artists around Sydney such as Marty Rhone, Eddie Youngblood, (Elvis Show), Deane Bourne (Roy Orbison), Maureen Elkner (Dusty Springfield),John St. Peeters, and John Rowles .He also takes a band to Vanuatu on a regular basis. In January 2005 John was asked to put together a Jazz - Blues band to take to the Nelson Jazz Festival in New Zealand. This trip was very successful. John also did an Australia wide tour with 'The Fiddlers Festival' featuring 'Marcus Holden, Clare O'Meara and Mark Oats. The band also played at the 'Gympie Muster' and then went on to Japan and performed at Expo 2005 in Nagoya. The Fiddlers also did the Port Fairy Music Festival in March of that year. In August 2006 he went to the Lorient Celtic Festival in France and played with the Fiddlers Feast for a very successful season. In September 2006 The Fiddlers returned to Japan for performances in Osaka and Tokyo. In May 2007 John played Bass on the 'Magic Motown Tour' which played to packed houses thru-out Australia and New Zealand.. John is currently back in Sydney playing with various artists and bands as well as being in demand as a writer arranger. Rick Best He remained overseas for almost four years performing in Asia and Europe. Upon returning to Sydney in 1983 Rick took over as musical director at the Mandarin Club in Sydney, a position which he held for just over five years. He then had his own band at Eastern Suburbs Leagues Club. In recent years he has toured with artists such as Doug Parkinson, The Drifters and John Rowles. He is currently playing at the Bourbon and Beefsteak Bar and the Illawarra Catholic Club as well as backing many other artists in and around Sydney. |
